OK, so I'm kind of bored with the whole "This is my face! Look at my face!" thing already, so there will be many instances of interesting hats and weird hair in the next year. This is only the tip of the iceberg, flist o' mine.

And I would like to tell you all that Curious George is much shorter in person, though his drinking has gotten worse.

So, I finished recovering my desk chair. It was icky and black and cheap-looking, but now it's teal brocade and cheap-looking. Ha! I got it four years ago at Wal-Mart, which should speak to you of its quality. The plastic and everything else has held up fine, but the padding on the seat was basically gone, and the fabric on it was all pilly. So I grabbed some fabric from le stash, the remainder of a bag of poly filling, and a staple gun.

The fabric is this weird, sort of iridescent teal and gold brocade. It's vintage -- probably from the '50s or '60s, and is a heavy cotton. I bought it originally thinking I could use it for a set of Elizabethan bodies, but the brocade pattern is just too modern, and the fabric isn't right for that kind of stress. So now it's my desk chair.

I think it's an improvement. It's at least more comfortable to sit on. And it matches my bedspread! Now to get rid of the duck blind curtains . . .

Also, a quiz found on the internets. Whether or not I am actually realistic is still questionable, but apparently my liberalism is reasonable.

The chair is awesome, but I'm totally in love with that hat!

I love the hat, too. I wore it for a Lois Lane/girl reporter costume for Hallowe'en one year, and I wish I could wear it every day. The yellow isn't the most flexible color, however.

Purty. How do you get the seat and back off a computer chair to recover it, anyway? Now that I've seen yours, I'm feeling the need to surgerize mine.

Mine was bolted and screwed on. Once I unscrewed everything, it popped right off. It had a plywood base that I could staple into. I managed to get the cover for the seat back on, but the back was too thick, so I just glued a piece of fabric over it. I need to buy some upholstery braid or ribbon to cover the join.

I have that same chair! And that fabric would match my new comforter, too.

I wish I had more of the fabric, because I'd really like to recover the lid of my hamper. It's looking a little rough every since His Gusness decided it was the perfect place to nap after rolling in the floor sweepings in the kitchen and the dirt outside.

I heartily approve of weird hats and hair and also recommend questionable make-up choices.

Make a list! I'll take requests. Large scale operations, such as appearing as a panda or Donald Trump, will require up to six weeks planning upon receipt of request.

That fabric looks familiar, like I've sat on a couch with that sort of fabric/style. Looks cool though. :)

And love the hat.. I don't pull off hats well, but I've been thinking of hitting Zsa Zsa’s Hat Salon one of these days.. just dress up and go in to try on hats and maybe find one that works for me.

Thanks! It's a pretty generic brocade.

I wish I could wear hats more often, but I think I would be looked askance if I started bopping around in cocktail hats and bowlers. Oh, what I really want, a HUGE Edwardian hat with many plumes and flowers.

I think hats should make a comeback.

Actually, I lied I do have a hat that I look good in. I don't look too bad in some berets, the floppy ones like Mary Jane wore in Spiderman for example.. I know cuz I knit one for myself and it looks cool so I might make another!
