Why must it hurt?

I think I'm going to have to take a break from knitting and crochet for a while. I sat down this evening and taught myself how to do afghan crochet, and now both of my hands and wrists ache. I took a couple aspirins, which took the edge off, but they're still kind of ache-y. Maybe it was the big hook I was using, an H, which is the same as a US 8 knitting needle. I know that doesn't sound huge, but I've been doing mostly thread crochet or knitting with size 2 or smaller needles lately, and I think the jump in size might have been bad. Or maybe it's that I've been working with cotton a lot lately, which is hard on your hands because it isn't elastic like wool. Either way, an hour of crochet shouldn't do that to your hands.

So I'm typing right now. It makes sense if you think about it. I'm also sining along to the Mulan soundtrack, which makes sense if you don't think about, which I'm trying not to do. Whoever thought that Donny Osmond could be a Chinese general in his mid-twenties?

I'm sorry about your sore hands! I get that way after working at knitting or crochet for awhile too. Sometimes I wrap my arm/wrist in an ace bandage while I work, just so I remember to maintain good posture and have a little support.

And that is totally my fave song from Mulan. Never gets old!

I think it was all the cotton I've been working with. I generally have good knitting form, but perl cotton must be the devil. Of course, this now means I am filled with the need to knit washcloths. Brain, knock it off.

I think Mulan is possibly the best animated movie to come out of Disney since that renaissance in the early '90s. I almost like it better than Beauty and the Beast, but it's hard to edge that one out, since I watched fanatically as a little girl.
