Ohmigod, you guys, I sold a pattern on Etsy! Because I opened my shop and didn't tell you. Hmm. But I sold a pattern! To a woman in Australia! International commerce!

Here it is.

It's currently named Miss McKnittington's Friend, because I still think it's cute and a nod to a favorite of Victorian literature. And that's very me, no? I need to write some copy yet for the profile and junk, but I've sold something! Go me.

Now everyone should go buy a pattern or a pair of cuffs! I need to buy my sister a blender. Or a toaster oven. Possibly I will also remember to put Bubba's name on the gift tag.

[livejournal.com profile] sora50, I think the fact that my sister is marrying someone whose nickname is Bubba should remove any doubt that I'm not Jewish.

Yay! I <3 you.

Hey, wow! Two other people favorited me! I don't know what this means, but I'm psyched.

Kate, I told my mom that I sold a pattern, and now she's all impressed. She told me I need to design patterns for things people actually want to knit -- like baby blankets. :D I think I should show her the shoulder cape I'm designing. I think it's purty.

Don't tempt me with project ideas, evil woman!

Oh, lord, it would be perfect for crocheted motifs, wouldn't it?

Would you sell me a copy of the pattern off Etsy? I don't have an account. I'd be happy to paypal you the $$$.

I'm thinking a nice cashmere/merino handspun...

Why, certainly. E-mail me at sarahelizabethengelke@gmail.com. Tell me what your account e-mail is for PayPal is and what your name is, so I know it's you, along with your LJ handle. That's my PayPal account address, by the way. Five dollars for the pattern, please and many blessings upon you.

Oh, cool! I thought you stumbled over from [livejournal.com profile] steamfashion. Now I really hope you get as much joy out of the pattern as I got out creating it. :)

I am on Ravelry. Name's the same. I think I might recognize you from the SCA knitting/fiber arts group.

E-mail being crafted as we speak.

I'm theredhead on Ravelry. I'm not on the SCA fiber groups, but you may have seem me 'round and about Rav. Especially on the spinning related communities.

Nonetheless, Alban would be amused...

Ah, I just saw the cashmerino comment. That would be so wonderful to wear. And handspun would make it twice as special. Show me pics when you get finish, ok?

I will send pics when I get around to dyeing, spinning and knitting - probably sometime this winter. Right now I'm a bit busy getting ready for SOAR and doing other fibery things.

And now you're up to 3 sales! Woo! Was it hard to get started on Etsy? Do they charge you any money? I've been thinking about opening a shop there for awhile.

It's four total, because I sold one outside of Etsy. Go me!

It's pretty easy. They charge a listing fee of 20 cents per item, so if you have one thing with 5 available, they charge you a dollar. And then there's a 3.5-percent fee on each purchase for using their services. BUT it's less than eBay and everything is much nicer looking and easier to use.

If you choose PayPal for payments, then there's another fee there, but I think it's under 5-percent.

You do! I'm really glad my first sale was to someone outside of the US, because it reminds me how global the world is. Also makes me happy I put both metric and inch measurements in the pattern.
