I'm going to be the different one and say muslin. I use muslin for almost all my outfits as a lining. It's cheap, it's breathable, and you don't cry if you accidentally cut something wrong on it. :-)
I've also bought an extra yard or so of the fabric I was using and just used the fabric itself as a lining. This might work the best in your situation.
