I'm currently progressing toward my 60th ounce of clear diet soda since I woke up this morning, as water makes me cough, juice stings my throat, and milk is just a no go. So apparently the answer is "a lot."

I thought about making this a voice post, but I keep losing my voice randomly, so it would have been mostly squeaking and whispering. Today I was having a very important conversation with my brother about whether or not I wanted to finish his frozen juice bar, when my voice dropped out on me mid-sentence. I was very much in favor of not finishing his healthy-version-of-the-Popsicle, so I kept arguing anyway. Let me tell you, an argument is much less satisfying when you have to whisper and squeak your part of it.

Also, I believe I promised to sing showtunes in my last voice post, and that's not a possibility right now. "76 Trombones" just lacks a certain je nais se quoi when it goes "Seventy hack hack hack wheeze parade."

The worst part of this illness is that I alternate between being drowsy and wakefulness. I never quite fall asleep, but I do lapse into an extreme state of meh.

I crocheted a little tonight. Can't get up the enthusiasm to knit.

I watched Pretty in Pink today while doing the sickness thing on the couch. I don't think I'd ever seen it from beginning to end before, and technically I haven't yet, since I missed the first 10 minutes.

Oh my god, Andie should have stuck with Duckie. I don't care how amazing Romeo (or whatever cute rich kid's name was) was, Duckie loved her. He seemed like he'd be a lot more fun to hang out with than Romeo, too. Give me rockabilly and suspenders any day over Old Milwaukee (Pabst Blue Ribbon?) and pretzels.

Also, that pink dress she wore to prom was really goddamn ugly. It made her look like a tube. A big pink tube. Unbecoming for the '80s even. And why were all those teenage girls dressed like old women? This is a t-shirt and jeans kind of place, and none of the old high school yearbooks show girls dressed in flowered rayon dresses and lace vests.

Now I need to go take a shower or bath to see if I can loosen up the crud in my chest. You know, so I can spend some time coughing this evening.
