Lamb dressed as mutton

I watched Pretty in Pink today while doing the sickness thing on the couch. I don't think I'd ever seen it from beginning to end before, and technically I haven't yet, since I missed the first 10 minutes.
Oh my god, Andie should have stuck with Duckie. I don't care how amazing Romeo (or whatever cute rich kid's name was) was, Duckie loved her. He seemed like he'd be a lot more fun to hang out with than Romeo, too. Give me rockabilly and suspenders any day over Old Milwaukee (Pabst Blue Ribbon?) and pretzels.
Also, that pink dress she wore to prom was really goddamn ugly. It made her look like a tube. A big pink tube. Unbecoming for the '80s even. And why were all those teenage girls dressed like old women? This is a t-shirt and jeans kind of place, and none of the old high school yearbooks show girls dressed in flowered rayon dresses and lace vests.
Now I need to go take a shower or bath to see if I can loosen up the crud in my chest. You know, so I can spend some time coughing this evening.

In the one scene when he comes outside you can see the kids look very different - more dirty. The rich kids are very clean. Poor kids are dark, the scenes are dark, the rich kids are light, pastels, etc.
I agree, that dress was the ugliest. I'm not even a tremendous sewer but I could have whipped something better than that up. But I think the point was to make her stand out a bit and look "creative."
My favorite character is Iona. Hands down. She wore the best clothing, except for the normal look. I wanted her apartment. I wanted to be Iona when I grew up so badly.
My favorite scene is when Ducky lip-syncs Otis Redding in the record store. I loved the Ducky character and totally would have gone out with him too. He does score Kristy Swanson, later to become Buffy the Vampire Slayer, though.
Yes, I've watched the movie a lot! ;)

Ditto on the favorite scene. How could you not fall in love with that boy?
What you say about the costuming is very wise. I didn't think of that angle. I was just curious about why Molly Ringwald was dressed like my kindergarten teacher. Or was wearing a pillowcase at prom.

I would have maybe added a black petticoat underneath and a black flower to the bodice but otherwise worked it as it. Add a little black and anything works. Oh well...
The teenager movies of today just aren't as good as the ones back then...

I bet my grandparents would fix me up if I stopped by their house tomorrow, though.

Feel better.
