Guys, I am feeling like 70-percent normal and only 20-percent sick today. The other 10-percent is the pathetic part, the part that made put off feeding the cat until 1:30 this afternoon because I didn't want to go in the basement and get cold. But I gave him wet and dry cat food, and diverted him with cat treats and bits of cheese before that, so he didn't appear too distraught.

I also put on pants that zipped this morning, which was kind of a big achievement after spending the last few days in oversized t-shirts and my underwear, adding slipper socks when I needed to go past my bedroom door.

And I ate oatmeal this morning! This is big. It wasn't soup or popsicles and there was butter and a whole tablespoon of brown sugar on it. And I could taste it. It tasted like health. The tomato soup and toast I ate for dinner tasted equally delicious, and I actually wanted to eat it.

Of course, all this improvement was tempered with sleeping for 10 hours last night and taking a 5 hour nap this afternoon after a couple days of getting only a few hours of sleep because of the coughing, but like Bob, I'm making baby steps here. By the end of the week, I hope I'm up to hitting on my therapist's wife. (The therapist that I don't have, so I'm guess I'm going to have to hit on my diabetes counselor's husband, who is in his 50s and shaped like a fishbowl.)

So, as I told my mom this afternoon, I feel better but also worse.

What I really want, though, is my brain back. It's been missing for at least a week now, and I'd really like to be able to talk about grammar without making an ass of myself. Thanks, cold germs! Please get out of my head.

Random question: Have the auto tags stopped working for anyone else when updating LJ? You know how when you start typing the tag into the field, it auto-completes it? That's not working for me anymore, and that's pissing me off. I don't have my tags memorized, so they're already kind of redundant, but I don't need more of that business.
