Lamb dressed as mutton

I watched Pretty in Pink today while doing the sickness thing on the couch. I don't think I'd ever seen it from beginning to end before, and technically I haven't yet, since I missed the first 10 minutes.

Oh my god, Andie should have stuck with Duckie. I don't care how amazing Romeo (or whatever cute rich kid's name was) was, Duckie loved her. He seemed like he'd be a lot more fun to hang out with than Romeo, too. Give me rockabilly and suspenders any day over Old Milwaukee (Pabst Blue Ribbon?) and pretzels.

Also, that pink dress she wore to prom was really goddamn ugly. It made her look like a tube. A big pink tube. Unbecoming for the '80s even. And why were all those teenage girls dressed like old women? This is a t-shirt and jeans kind of place, and none of the old high school yearbooks show girls dressed in flowered rayon dresses and lace vests.

Now I need to go take a shower or bath to see if I can loosen up the crud in my chest. You know, so I can spend some time coughing this evening.

I love that movie, and I still cannot fathom her *not* ending up with Duckie. Although I do like to think that Duckie and Iona got together eventually.

I thought that about Iona and Duckie too, entirely from the kiss and her reaction to it -- like her thighs were on fire. :P

Duckie's just awesome. How could you not love his serenading Andie in the record store? If someone did that to me now, I'd love it. In high school, I would have been over the moon.
