Specialty? What's so special?

Ah, man. I want a tambour stand. A hoop with legs. Eighty bucks? This one's only $28, but still. It's a wooden hoop with legs.

I've got find some popsicle sticks so I can rig up one of my own. Or something like that.

I need a hobby that's free. Reading doesn't count. And neither does cursing the weather.

I kind of want one of those for regular embroidery. It would make reticella and blackwork a hell of a lot easier.

I think I can rig one up using dowels and a clamp to hold the screw that tightens the frame. I'd need wood glue, a flat piece of wood that's had the hell sanded out of it, a couple screws, a piece of dowel, a clamp and a power drill. I think I'd be maybe five dollars out of pocket in the end. Maybe more if I grab a bracket to brace it well.

I'm really kind of surprised by how often I've used power tools in costuming.

Does it have to be round? I have a frame-like thing similar to that, currently holding an embroidery project my Mother never finished. You can have it if you want it.

Oh, here: it is this,http://www.scottishfibres.co.uk/acatalog/Embstand4.jpg but much less fancy (basically dowel rods) and about 15-18-ish inches across. I can measure it later if it's what you're looking for.

Ya know, I think crazy cat lady is a hobby...and it's free if you catch the cats yourself! ::ducks::

I've seen similar frames around before but most of them are in that $25~$40 racket. $28 doesn't sound too bad, really....

Ah, I've got enough cats. The crazy one inside and crazy ones outside.

It's not that bad, but I'm thinking about all the necessaries I'm going to have to buy for my sister's wedding over the summer, and I think that's going to bite hard into my income. We have to get shoes dyed to match the dresses, I know, and I have the feeling she's going to go, "Oh, you guys, let's have our makeup done professionally!" And then I'm going to break out the squirt gun and spritz her in the face.

There's also a part of me that rebels at paying nearly $30 for an embroidery hoop.

Hmm, how much do you think it would cost to ship it?

Digital photography? You already have the camera.

Not much, especially if I can figure out how to take it apart, which shouldn't be THAT difficult, it's wingnuts. Anyhow, don't sweat postage, I can swing it. (Had a good craft show this past weekend.)

Do you (or anyone you know) need any pre-gathered nylon lace? I have whole bolts of the stuff. And about a shoebox full of old bias tape. What else might I have that you could use?

Email (lifeonwryATyahooDOTcom) me your address. I probably won't get to the post office until later this week, though.

Can I barter you something for it, then? Like a knit beret or some fingerless mitts or something? Do you have anything you need for your faire wear? Coasters?

I don't need any gathered nylon lace or bias tape. Good gods, I've got enough bias tape squirreled away. You could try Craigslist if you're desperate to get away from you.

Hmm. My picture taking skills are pretty pathetic.

I don't know that it is actually good enough to barter for, and it's just taking up space here anyhow. If it proves to work out for you, fantastic. If not, it looks like it'd burn real good.

Also, I may have scored a comp ticket for Bristol for you. I'll know for sure after this weekend.
